ABOUT THIS HOP

The Hygge (pronounced Hoo-Gah) is the third and largest design by Emily and Seth Britt, built from seven shipping containers with larger groups and families squarely in mind. As one of the few 5-bedroom cabins in Hocking Hills, it sleeps up to 12 guests and features an open floor plan that keeps everyone in the same orbit without feeling cramped.

This is a Scandinavian-style cabin through and through. Emily and Seth describe it as "mighty yet minimal.” Four of the five bedrooms have their own private patio formed from the doors of the shipping containers themselves. No luxuries spared, as the Box Hop creators like to say.

THE SPACE

A Hocking Hills Cabin With a Sauna, Hot Tub, and 18 Wondrous Acres

The spa enclosure is a guest favorite. Tucked in the back corner of the 18+ acre property, the enclosed area houses a sauna and a hot tub, both overlooking the wooded ravine. For a Hocking Hills cabin with a sauna this secluded, you're not sharing the view with anyone. Perfect for a coffee in the morning or a cocktail at night.

Inside, two matching suspended wood-burning fireplaces anchor the space. The first-floor deck extends the living space outside with large outdoor couches, chairs, a suspended fireplace, and a gas grill. There's plenty of room to pull out the cornhole or ring toss, and the deck overlooks the ravine the whole time.

The Hocking Hills region sits on the Allegheny Plateau in Appalachian Ohio, shaped over millennia by the ancient Blackhand Sandstone formation responsible for the area's dramatic cliffs, gorges, and hidden rock shelters. The Hygge, a Hocking Hills 5-bedroom cabin, sits tucked into the back corner of 18+ acres of that landscape, with the ravine right outside the spa enclosure.

When you're ready to venture out, all Box Hop properties are within easy reach of zip-lining, canopy tours, canoeing, hiking, biking, fishing, and horseback riding, along with local shops, restaurants, breweries, and the John Glenn Astronomy Park. Getting Here & Property Info

GETTING HERE

The driveway to this Scandinavian-style cabin is a long gravel road. During inclement weather, an all-wheel-drive or 4-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended. The driveway is maintained by a local company.

PROPERTY ACCESS

The home is accessed with a key in a lockbox next to the door. Contactless check-in makes arrival seamless at any hour.

PET POLICY

The Hygge welcomes up to 2 dogs. A $100 pet fee per pet is due at the time of booking. We ask that you keep dogs off the furniture, don't leave them unattended at the house, and clean up any waste.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Your 50% deposit made at the time of booking is non-refundable. Your full balance can be applied to booking one of our other houses and/or different dates if done more than 30 days prior to your stay. If you paid in full when you booked, a 50% refund will be given if the cancellation is made more than 30 days before your stay. The cleaning fee will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 7 days prior to your stay.

Perfect family Christmas home

We rented the Hygge for our entire family— parents, adult children and their kids and partners —to spend the Christmas holiday together. It was pretty much perfect: the home was cozy, private, well furnished (comfortable furniture and bedding, lots of kitchen supplies ), and it was even decorated for the holidays upon our arrival with a tree with lights and stockings hung.

We always love staying at the Hygge. Management is responsive and helpful, and the property is always clean and welcoming. The drive up is beautiful and easy, and once you're there, it’s a wonderful area to explore on foot. The bathrooms are spacious and spotless, and they’ve done a great job making the most of every part of the cabin. Ending the day in the hot tub or sauna is always a highlight!
